Early County school system staff will receive a retention bonus

BLAKELY, Ga. (WTVY) – Teachers and staff at Early County schools will soon receive a gift on their paycheck. A bonus of $ 2,000 will be administered to all employees of the school systems, from janitors to administration.

The school system plans to use grants allocated through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Fund (ESSER) to fund the premium.

Early County Acting Superintendent Dr Jennifer Brown said the idea came from a state consensus to show gratitude to its employees.

“Because we attend so many meetings with many other Georgia state superintendents, there was general consensus on ESSER funds to pay retention-type bonuses to compensate for some of the extra work that teachers had during. pandemic, ”says Dr. Jennifer Brown, Acting Superintendent, Early County School System.

Dr Brown says staff members have gone out of their way during the pandemic and that’s just another way to say ‘thank you’.

The bonus is expected to be paid on March 30, 2022.
